Fevers Rise as Patient Complaints Mount

Stuffy nose. Runny nose. Cough. Fever. Chills. Even nausea. We have it all here at the Crumpley Institute for the Going Insane!

Tyler came home from work early last Monday complaining that he didn't feel well. This was hardly surprising considering half (and I do mean HALF) of his crew was out sick all of the week before. By the end of the day he had the fever and chills and it all went downhill from there. Tyler had the lightest case, I think. He only felt ill from the hips down (his words! I guess his knees felt like they were made of jello?) and he was feeling markedly better by Tuesday evening. Just in time for Andrew to come home from school complaining that he was cold and his knees felt weak. Sure enough, by the evening he had a fever of 102 and was wrapped in a fleece blanket like his life depended on it. Andrew was home from school Wednesday and Thursday. Hip-hip-hooray! He got to go back on Friday, if he promised to stay in at recess - which he did. Friday was Katherine's turn to stay home. She started complaining of being cold and feeling "light" on Thursday night and both she and Lida were running fevers.

It has been a looooooooong week. And it looks like it's going to be another long week. Every one else is back to health (Andrew still has a really annoying cough, but it is gradually getting better), but Lida just can't seem to kick it! She has had a fever every day for 4 days and her nose is trying to win a marathon! Thank goodness for Tyler's mom who has supplied us with sanity saving essential oils - cypress, ravensara and eucalyptus. They are the only treatments that seem to offer Lida some relief. Even now, she is only sleeping because we rubbed some cypress and RC on her chest and she has finally stopped coughing in her sleep. Now if I could just figure out a way to get Tyler to stop snoring I might be able to go to bed too...

This flu that is going around is horrible. I went through it and so did Sean. That nasty caugh took a few weeks to completely go away.

How awful! I'm glad the end is in sight for you. It is so sad having a sick baby.
