Ten Years!!! and Counting...

Tyler and I celebrated our Tenth wedding anniversary this month. For my part, it doesn't seem like it can possibly have been that long since we tied the not. Didn't I just graduate high school a few years ago? But I can honestly say that it has been the best (and fastest) ten years of my life. Anyone who says marriage is hard must be doing something wrong. Marriage is easy! It's being an adult that's hard.

In honor of this momentous occassion, Tyler and I left the kids with their Aunt and Uncle (thanks a million, Julie) and ran away to Yellowstone for the night. We stayed at the Old Faithful Inn (built in 1903). I'm afraid the pictures don't do it justice. If you've never visited the inn, it is well worth the trip (assuming you're going to see things in the park too!). It is rather spendy, but we figured this was a special occassion. So, we splurged. We learned that, while the inn is very beautiful, it is a tad bit cold in October. It's no wonder that they close the inn for the winter season.

The picture above was our view from the second floor where we retired after dinner to listen to the pianist and watch the people in the lobby.

When we awoke Saturday morning we were greeted by a world covered in frost. While it was very cold (frigid, in fact), I think the frost had more to do with the steam constantly rising from the geysers. It was a little incongruous see shallow pools of running water amid so much frost.

This is a picture of Old Faithful erupting. It was difficult to see the water shooting into the air because of all the steam that came with it. A HUGE disadvantage to visiting Yellowstone in the winter - you can't see the natural wonders for all the steam. We stopped to visit the Grand Prismatic Spring on our way home, but couldn't see anything but an enormous cloud!

So, what have I learned in the last ten years? Only that I am the luckiest woman in the world and I truly pity all you other women who aren't married to Tyler. I suppose it's just as well you don't know what you're missing...

I totally agree with you that who ever thinks marriage is hard is doing something wrong. Steve & I have been together for over a fast wonderful 11 years, so I know the feeling. You are a fantastic wife as Tyler is a great husband and I'm glad to have married his brother to also experience the greatness! Way to go. Yelowstone brings back beautiful memories of our honeymoon...What will you do on your 20th????

HAPPY TEN YEARS!!! I'm glad you were able to get away for a night. I think for your 11th you should come out to WI. I will gladly watch your kids for a couple of nights if you want.
