Revolution!!!!

For the first time in days the house is completely silent except for the click-clack of the keyboard as I type. (Well, the dishwasher is on upstairs too, but as I'm downstairs and can't hear it, it doesn't count, right?) Today I'm making a stand for independence!!! Since I am apparently the only person in the house who cares if it is clean, I've decided that I don't care either (at least for today). So, I took a shower when I wanted to - even though Lida screamed at the top of her lungs through the whole thing. (Hey, everyone else was home - they could have amused her if they didn't want to listen to the noise! Tyler did stick his head into the bathroom to see that she wasn't hurt. This, of course, just made her scream all the louder. - By the by...she was screaming because I didn't take her in the shower with me. How do you shave your legs and hold the equivalent of a 20 lb. greased pig at the same time???) Then I locked myself in Lida's room (also known as the Library) and read my book for nearly an hour! It was wonderful!!!

Apparently Tyler figured out that I wasn't in the best of moods (wonderful as he is, he can be awfully obtuse at times) and whisked the kids away for lunch and left me absolutely alone - that is, unless you count the dog, which I DO NOT. So, I paid a couple of bills and thought I would dust the cobwebs (so to speak) collecting on my blog. After all, the reason I haven't written anything in so long is because I've been trying to get my house in order. But today I don't care - if every else goes to bed without sheets on their beds it will be their own fault for not putting any on! HA!!! The freedom is almost exhilarating!!!

It has been a challenging week, though I suppose the astute reader may already have gathered that...Lida is teething again. She is cutting both of her top front teeth - poor thing - and hasn't been sleeping well as a consequence. I'm sure her runny nose (and accompanying post nasal drip which in turn is causing her to cough) hasn't helped the situation. So, I've been "dosing" her with Cypress and Ravensara oils (and a drop of castor oil) rubbed on her neck and - on really bad days - Infant Tylenol to make life easier for both of us. The Cypress and Ravensara oils really seem to help the runny nose.

This past week Andrew took part in his first Pinewood Derby. He really enjoyed building his car and was thrilled to win 3 races. He was very proud of his car - he fussed over it like an overanxious hen! We all had a good time at the "races" - Katherine's favorite part was the refreshments - twinkies with mini-oreo wheels. She had 3! One for each of Andrew's wins. I was mortified. I guess we'll have to keep better tabs on her in the future...

Here is Andrew with his car, Speed.

Andrew's car is the blur in front!!

Well, I guess my hiatus is over. I can't completely resist the urge to get my home ready for the Sabbath. Besides, I have a Gospel Doctrine lesson to prepare (The Need for Personal Revelation) and the inevitable dinner to prepare. My willing to reassume the yoke of Motherhood has been helped along by the dozen red roses Tyler brought home. I'm such a worm!!!

Every mom should be able to go on strike every once in a while. But I know how hard that must have been on you to let the cleaning go! Lida being upset cuz she didn't get to shower with you made me laugh - well your description of it did anyway.
