A Sign?

I have made no secret that I don't like split pea soup.  Nevertheless, we do occassionally eat it because it's CHEAP and (so I've been led to believe) "good for you."  So, today being Tuesday - my most hectic day of the week - I spent the early afternoon working on dinner so that we could race out the door at 3:45 pm for piano lessons.  I am ashamed to say that I somehow managed to burn the Split Pea Soup - twice.  TWICE!!! The first time I burned it, I was a good girl and simply transfered the unscorched portion to another thick-bottomed pan and started it cooking again.  A while later, as I was reading stories to Lida, she stops me in the middle of Fancy Nancy to complain that "something smells funny."  Sure enough, it was the soup...again.  I didn't even bother to try to salvage it this time, I just poured it down the garbage disposal and set - yet another - pan in the sink to soak.  When I broke the news to Katherine that we would not be having pea soup for dinner she didn't even try to sound disappointed!!  I guess my family likes split pea soup about as well as I do, and it will probably be a very long time before I try it again.  The question of the day is - What are we supposed to eat now????

Those are the days when we have pancakes. If I am really lucky, I usually still have some in the freezer from the last time I made a quadruple batch. And I would NEVER try split pea soup again. (Although, truth be told, I would not have tried it in the first place.)

I have never made split pea soup. I think James is really ok with that though. It is always hard for me to know just what to make for dinner. Because unless it is pizza, someone is not going to be happy with my choice. Oh well! At least we are far from starving!!!
